Spring (March–May)
Mild weather, but spring school holidays (late March to early April) and Golden Week (late April to early May) are among the busiest times of the year. Mid-April and mid-to-late May weekdays are good.
Summer (June–August)
June is rainy and relatively quiet. July and August are hot, humid and crowded with holidaymakers, with water-soaking summer events to compensate.
Autumn (September–November)
The Halloween season from mid-September to the end of October is hugely popular. Early November, before the Christmas event begins, is comfortable; typhoons can disrupt September.
Winter (December–February)
The Christmas event runs from mid-November to 25 December and is very busy. Weekdays from mid-January to early March are the quietest of the year but cold and windy, with some rides closed for maintenance.

Our advice
Choose a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday outside Japanese school holidays, and check a crowd-forecast calendar before buying tickets. Bring rain gear rather than cancelling for drizzle: wet weekdays have the shortest queues.
