Tokyo Disney Resort Travel Guide

Tickets, the app, ride passes, food and the rules that surprise first-time visitors.

Tickets

Standard 1-day tickets are valid for one named park on one named date, and prices rise on busier days. Tickets go on sale some weeks ahead on the official site; overseas credit cards are sometimes declined there, in which case authorised overseas sellers are the fallback. Reduced-price tickets for entry from the afternoon or evening are offered on some days. All of this changes frequently — confirm on the official website.

Ride passes

Three systems operate through the app, and only after you have entered the park: Disney Premier Access, a paid pass for a timed slot on the most popular rides and for show viewing areas; the free Priority Pass for a set of other rides; and, when in use, free Standby or entry requests for certain attractions and shops. Passes for the top rides are often gone within an hour or two of opening, which is why regulars arrive well before the gates open.

Eating

Food is part of the fun: popcorn in a dozen flavours with collectable buckets, themed buns and seasonal desserts. Table-service restaurants take reservations in advance online or on the day through the app. You may bring water and small snacks; picnics belong in the area outside the gates.

Good to know

  • Adults may not wear full character costumes except during designated Halloween periods.
  • Selfie sticks and tripods are not permitted, and guests sit down for parades and shows.
  • Most rides have minimal language barriers, but some shows are in Japanese only.
  • A mobile battery is essential — you will be on the app all day.

Sample plans

One day at DisneySea

Arrive 45–60 minutes before opening, request Fantasy Springs passes at once, ride Soaring or Journey early, explore the ports in the afternoon and stay for the harbour show.

One day at Disneyland

Start with Beauty and the Beast, use Priority Passes through the morning, watch the daytime parade, and finish with the Electrical Parade and castle show.

Two days

One park each day, staying overnight on the monorail loop so that you can take a midday rest and still see both night shows.

Tokyo Disney Resort FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Disneyland or DisneySea — which should I choose?

With one day, choose DisneySea if you have visited a Disney castle park elsewhere or are travelling without small children; choose Disneyland for the classic experience and for the youngest visitors.

Where do I buy Tokyo Disney Resort tickets?

On the official Tokyo Disney Resort website or app, or from authorised overseas sellers. They are not among the GetYourGuide products listed for this location. Tickets are not normally sold at the gate.

Do I need a pass for Fantasy Springs?

Entry to the area has been opened up since its launch, but its rides generally still require a Disney Premier Access or other pass obtained in the app on the day. Check the current rules shortly before you go.

Is one day enough for both parks?

No. Standard tickets cover one park per day, and each park fills a day.
