About TokyoTravel.com

An independent guide to Tokyo, organised the way the city actually works — one neighbourhood at a time.

What this site is

TokyoTravel.com is a travel portal for Tokyo and the classic day trips around it. Instead of one long list of sights, it is built from fifteen destination guides — ten city districts and five day trips — each with its own pages for tours and tickets, things to see, getting there, practical advice and seasons. City-wide pages cover airports and transport, the practical essentials, when to go, itineraries and where to stay.

How we work

  • Facts are hedged on purpose. Opening hours, fares and admission fees in Japan change often. We give approximate figures to help you plan and say “about” or “around” when we mean it; always confirm details with the operator before you travel.
  • Tours are real listings. Every tour and ticket we feature is an actual GetYourGuide product that we checked in October 2026, with the rating and review count shown at that time. Where GetYourGuide’s range for a place is thin — as at Ikebukuro, Yokohama or Tokyo Disney Resort — we say so.
  • Hotels are chosen for location and reviews. We list a few well-rated hotels per destination with their Trip.com guest scores. We do not show prices, because they change daily.
  • Photographs are freely licensed. All images come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons or public-domain terms and are credited on our image credits page.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use and carries no display advertising. It is supported by affiliate commissions: if you book a tour through a GetYourGuide link or a hotel through a Trip.com link on these pages, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate disclosure explains this in full.

Languages

The guide is published in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai and Spanish. Use the language menu at the top of any page to switch.
