Ikebukuro Station is served by JR (Yamanote, Saikyo and Shonan-Shinjuku lines), the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi, Yurakucho and Fukutoshin lines, and the Tobu Tojo and Seibu Ikebukuro railways. A few Narita Express trains continue here, but most visitors change at Nippori or Tokyo. Fares are approximate; see getting to Tokyo.

Getting around Ikebukuro

Which exit: confusingly, the Seibu (“west”) store is on the east side and the Tobu (“east”) store on the west. Use the East Exit for Sunshine City and Otome Road, the West Exit for Jiyu Gakuen and the theatre district.

Onward: the Tobu Tojo Line reaches Kawagoe in about 30 minutes, and discount day passes are sold for the trip.
